Product Description:

The MAXTRAX winch rope is a metal-free alternative to traditional winch ropes, designed to be a safer option than steel winch cable or synthetic rope with a metal hook or ring. The MAXTRAX winch rope can be removed from the winch reel and used as a fixed extension rope when needed.

The MAXTRAX winch rope was designed and tested as part of MAXTRAX Recovery System. The MAXTRAX recovery system consists entirely of MAXTRAX products and has not been tested with any products from other brands.

Before using the MAXTRAX winch rope to recover a vehicle, make sure you have read and understood all the information on the packaging and on any warning labels attached to the rope.

Instructions for use

1. Visually inspect the winch rope to ensure there is no damage and that it is in a safe condition for use before installation and use.
2. Secure the rope to the vehicle's designated winch, ensuring the rope end is fastened with the colored safety tag. Then, wrap the rope around the winch reel to tighten the line.
3. Use the MAXTRAX WINCH WIDGET tool to secure the end of the rope at the firelead and fully protect the rope.
4. To use the winch, remove the WINCH WIDGET tool and attach the rope loop to the MAXTRAX HITCH, STATIC rope, or vehicle-rated recovery points using the MAXTRAX CORE SHACKLE or FUSE SHACKLE.
5. The colored markings on the rope contain an indicator to show how far the rope is stretched: black indicates the last 6 meters, and red indicates the last 2 meters.
6. Use the MAXTRAX WINCH RING for double or angled pulling.
7. MAXTRAX ropes can be linked together or with STATIC ropes using MAXTRAX CORE SHACKLES to meet the required rope length.
8. Place the MAXTRAX RECOVERY DAMPENER on the rope and attach it to the loops or restraints.
9. Use MAXTRAX 4WD tracks to reduce loads on equipment during recovery.
10. Clear the area of passersby and onlookers.
11. Begin the recovery process by gently removing the excess rope.

Care and maintenance

The components of the MAXTRAX recovery system are of high quality, but are susceptible to wear and tear or damage such as cuts, cracks, burning, or corrosion. Cables and components should be carefully inspected before each use. Do not use the product if it is damaged, cut, burned, corroded, or does not have a clear warning label.
To prolong the life of the components, they should be washed with clean water and air-dried after use, and stored inside the MAXTRAX RECOVERY KIT bag.

Recommendations and Safety

• The minimum tensile strength of the rope should be between 2 and 3 times the gross vehicle weight (GVM).
• The rope should be suitable for the lighter of the two vehicles during recovery.

Safety Instructions

• Use MAXTRAX products only within the system.
• The MAXTRAX FUSE SHACKLE constraint should always be used. For each recovery operation.
• It is recommended to complete an accredited 4WD driving course or consult a 4WD club about rope selection and use.
• The rope is not used for traditional lifting or pulling.
• It must be ensured that the rope is undamaged and usable.
• The strength and stretch of the rope decrease when it becomes saturated with water.
• The rope should be covered with a shock absorber or heavy bag to reduce rope bounce.

• Before returning, vehicle occupants must:

  1. Exiting vehicles
  2. Park as far away from vehicles as possible

  3. Do not stand in the vehicle's path during recovery.
